text to speech with sapi on vs2010 not giving sound

I need to create a program in c++ code that converts text to speech. And I found this code on codeproject.com

I am using visual studio 2010. I downloaded the demo project and it uses sapi, comstl and boost libraries, all of which compile properly and the output to the console also is correct, but the sound just doesn't come. Is it some installation problem with visual studio 2010 or audio drivers of my computer or there is something to be linked to the speech systems? Any help is appreciated.
