How can I capture an audio output stream from a web source?

Is there any way to capture an audio output stream from a web source? And by capture I don't mean a microphone of my computer to a web page, I mean a way in Javascript, or Java, for example, to capture the audio output that a given html page is playing, just like you pushed a play button on an audio resource.
